In the summer, we met a young, smiling monk at the Komik monastery. His name is Phuntsok Dorje, he is very kind and has a great desire to serve the community and study the Buddha’s teachings. He has had a big mark on his head since childhood, which has now become angry.
It has to go or it could turn into cancer!
Phuntsok has had a mark on his head all his life. But as is the case with birthmarks, over time and due to the influence of sunlight, which is really intense in the Spiti valley, they can turn into cancerous birthmarks. Skin cancer is as challenging as any other. It can also be fatal. And we definitely don’t want that.
Phuntsok needs four operations to remove the birthmark and all the tissue around it. Since he has not yet developed any disease, no further treatment is needed. The costs of the procedure are around 30,000 – 35,000 CZK.
In his case, the procedure must be done as quickly as possible, so he has already had one of the four operations. There are three more waiting for him.
We believe that by working together we will be able to finance Phutsok’s treatment.
